Introduction to AI Agents
Last year, I was skeptical of AI agents, finding them unreliable. However, today, these agents are becoming more reliable and are gaining traction. I tested six major AI agents on my iPhone to understand their capabilities and weaknesses. This guide will help you navigate the landscape of AI agents and choose the best one for your needs.

AI Agents Overview
The six AI agents I tested are:
- Meta’s Muse: Free, with a strong presence in the app store.
- Instinct: Free, but requires an invite code, accessed via text.
- OpenAI’s Dots: Behind a $100-a-month paywall, built inside ChatGPT.
- Google’s Gemini Spark: In beta, costs $20 a month.
- xAI’s Grok Bot: Costs $30 a month, in its own app.
- Anthropic’s Claude Duet: Newest, released as a wait-listed research preview the night before my tests, costs $20 a month.
Testing Criteria
To evaluate the AI agents, I designed five basic tests to run each agent through, enacting all this chaos over 24 hours. The tests were scored on a scale of 1 to 5, and the results were tallied to crown a winner. Here are the tests:
Test 1: Proactivity
The AI agent should proactively suggest tasks based on detected opportunities. For example, it should suggest scanning your email for missed messages.
Test 2: Task Following
The AI agent should follow through on tasks and complete them accurately. For example, it should track flight deals and notify you of any changes.
Test 3: Browser Control
The AI agent should control a virtual browser to complete tasks. For example, it should help with daily shopping decisions by scanning your email for missed messages.
Test 4: Privacy and Security
The AI agent should respect user privacy and security. For example, it should not post personal information without explicit consent.
Test 5: Integration with Personal Data
The AI agent should integrate with your personal data, such as your calendar and email, to provide more accurate and personalized assistance.
Results and Analysis
After running the tests, I found that Anthropic’s Claude Duet performed the best. It scored the highest in all tests and demonstrated a strong understanding of user needs and preferences. However, it also had the most potential for misuse, as it could potentially access and use your personal data without your explicit consent.
Conclusion
While AI agents are still in their nascent stages, they have the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with technology. By understanding their strengths and weaknesses, you can choose the best AI agent to meet your needs. Remember, these tools should be used with caution and respect for your privacy and security.
