Though Microsoft Windows offers more ways to customize the desktop, it continues to disappoint in the area of desktop widgets. Layer, a free app, addresses this by bringing dozens of widgets to your Windows 11 desktop. No account or sign-in is required, and it doesn't even prompt for Windows UAC. The app is designed to make your desktop more helpful by displaying information that matters. Layer offers access to about 22 widgets, and the list keeps growing with each update. You can find widgets across categories like System, Utilities, Information and media, Time and planning, and Writing and capture. Layer's widgets are interactive, with options like Notes, To-do, Sticky notes, Volume Mixer, and more. Layer's System widgets, such as System stats and Disk info, provide valuable insights into your system's performance. Layer also includes Keep Awake and Quick Toggles widgets, which reduce the time spent navigating to settings pages. Layer's Web Embed widget can display important webpages, such as your Meetings page. Layer is a comprehensive app that goes beyond just adding widgets, making it a valuable addition to your Windows 11 setup.
